Payment Options (SB 473 Compliant)
Baxter Bail Bonds follows Kansas Senate Bill 473 requirements for appearance bond premiums, down payments, accepted payment methods, and premium financing.
What SB 473 Requires
- Minimum appearance bond premium: 10% of the face amount of the appearance bond.
- Required down payment before posting: 50% of that minimum premium must be received before any bond is posted.
- Premium financing: Any unpaid portion of the minimum premium must be covered by a premium financing agreement.
- Agent presence: A compensated surety must be physically present at the jail and sign the bond when it is posted.
Accepted Payment Methods (Down Payment)
Per SB 473, Baxter Bail Bonds accepts the following for the required down payment, provided funds are received before bond execution:
Cash
U.S. currency, paid directly to Baxter Bail Bonds prior to bond execution.
Check
A delivered check payable to Baxter Bail Bonds that is promptly deposited into our business account.
Credit/Debit Card
Card transactions are accepted with prior authorization from the card issuer (an authorization/approval code is required).

Bank or wire transfer, or other electronic funds transfer, including peer-to-peer (e.g., Cash App, PayPal, Venmo), so long as the transfer clears before bond execution.
Note: Standard merchant processing fees may apply to card or certain electronic transactions. ID verification may be required for fraud prevention.
Premium Financing
After you make the required down payment (50% of the minimum premium), the remaining amount can be completed through a premium financing agreement as required by SB 473. We’ll review simple, clear terms with you and provide copies of all paperwork.
Example: How It Works
| Bond Amount | Minimum Premium (10%) | Required Down Payment (50% of Premium) | Remaining Minimum Premium (Financed) |
